ABOUT

Pat is a visual media artist who works in the area of interactive media and artistic visualization. He is a lecturer in the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Department of Communication Design at Bangkok University in Bangkok, Thailand. His background in graphic design, computer art, and interactive art form the foundation of his research in artistic visualization, focusing on generative computation, metaphorical data mappings, and the aesthetics of data representation. His artistic practice and research aim to explore the metaphor theory, computation technique, and art theory within a discipline emerged from interdisciplinary branches of science inspired by art and technology domains, interchangeably called data art, aesthetic information visualization, visualization art, art-inspired visualization, or artistic visualization.

As a visual designer with degrees in visual communication design and computer art, I have always been interested in computational art and visualization design in regards to the process for generating aesthetically pleasing abstract animations or visualizations. In my artistic practice, I use computers as a medium to explore and combine the elements of my design process (e.g., metaphor, computation, art theory, and aesthetic) for the visual generation. In the visualization domain, I am particularly interested in the visualization discipline, interchangeably called artistic visualization, aesthetic visualization, aesthetic information visualization or visualization art. This discipline emerged from interdisciplinary branches of science. It was inspired by art and technology domains, such as new media art, digital art, interactive art, visual art, social sciences, computational art, and generative art.

Recently, I'm interested in bio-inspired artificial intelligence, NPR (Non-Photorealistic Rendering), and Machine Learning for applying in art and design domain.
